The _a_s_k_R_e_s_t_a_r_t_F_m utility restarts the file manager on the desktop
background and, if necessary, the icon catalog. Its purpose is to show
new application icons immediately, saving the user the trouble of logging
out and back in.
_a_s_k_R_e_s_t_a_r_t_F_m displays a question dialog asking the user whether to
restart _f_m and _i_c_o_n_c_a_t_a_l_o_g. If the user clicks the Now button, then it
restarts them immediately. Caveat: All iconviews (dirviews) are closed
and must be reopened manually by the user. The existing _f_m process is
reused via the ////uuuussssrrrr////lllliiiibbbb////ddddeeeesssskkkkttttoooopppp////tttteeeellllllllddddeeeesssskkkkttttoooopppp rrrreeeessssttttaaaarrrrtttt command. If the user
clicks the Later pushbutton, the dialog is dismissed.
The _f_m_s_e_r_v program calls _a_s_k_R_e_s_t_a_r_t_F_m when it detects that the
/_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_f_i_l_e_t_y_p_e/_d_e_s_k_t_o_p._o_t_r icons database has changed, the usual cause
of which is software installation. The _a_s_k_R_e_s_t_a_r_t_F_m script is not
intended to be run directly by the end user.

_a_s_k_R_e_s_t_a_r_t_F_m creates the $_H_O_M_E/._d_e_s_k_t_o_p-<_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e>/_A_s_k_i_n_g_R_e_s_t_a_r_t_D_e_s_k_t_o_p
file, where $_H_O_M_E is the user's home directory and <_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e> is the host
name as returned by _h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e(_1). When the user dismisses the dialog,
_a_s_k_R_e_s_t_a_r_t_F_m removes the file. If the script detects that the file
already exists, it exits without creating the file or showing the dialog.
When installing many applications, the user can avoid seeing many dialogs
by waiting until all products are installed to dismiss the dialog.
